Safecutters, Inc. is committed delivering high quality products, which promote safer and more efficient workplaces for individuals and corporations worldwide.

A family-owned and operated business, Safecutters, Inc. began its operation in 2005 with a passion for delivering safety and efficiency into the workplace. Family relative Jeff Kempker’s invention of the “Klever Kutter” - a hugely popular box cutter used in industrial and office settings, spurred the company’s ground work and laid the foundation for Safecutters Inc. to become an authority in the field of safe cutting tools. 

Today, Safecutters, Inc. has grown from representing the single product of Klever Kutter into a leading distributor of safety knives and related safety products.

Thomas I. Fri, President

Thomas founded Safecutters, Inc. as a way to merge his passion for entrepreneurship with his dedication to creating safe work environments.

Prior to founding Safecutters, Inc., Thomas spent 31 years serving alongside his brother Eric, as the President of Port City Industrial Finishing, a company founded by their father Ivar in 1952.   Thomas was responsible for maintaining superior customer relations, successfully managing company financials and spurring the continued growth of the family business.   

Soon after retiring from Port City Industrial Finishing in 2003, Thomas was inspired to establish Safecutters, Inc. to help further introduce the Klever Kutter safety product to individuals and corporations. By utilizing digital marketing and launching Safecutters.com, Thomas successfully expanded market share and positioned the company as an industry leader.

A Michigan native, Thomas is passionate about encouraging personal growth and self-discovery for himself, his family, his employees and his customers. Thomas is an alumnus of Ferris State University.

Joshua I Fri, Director of Operations

Joshua is an innovative, results-oriented professional with extensive business development experience. 

Prior to Safecutters, Inc., Joshua Fri was the founder and Chief Operating Officer of MadJax Construction and Cypress Development Inc. Dedicated to positive economic growth in western Michigan, Joshua was instrumental in advancing a new residential development firm into the regional marketplace. 

In his role for Safecutters, Inc., Joshua delivers account management and strategic planning to achieve new business development opportunities and professional partnerships.
Joshua studied Business Administration at Western Michigan University.  He is actively involved with his community and enjoys being an avid sportsman, high school football coach, and church member.

Matthew T Fri, Chief Financial Officer

Matthew is a knowledgeable Chief Financial Officer with expertise in corporate fiscal management. His keen ability to see the big picture have fostered sustainable and continued growth of the Safecutters brand. 

Having managed the financial departments of three small to mid-sized companies, Matthew understands the effect workers’ compensation, product damage and employee down time can have on a company’s bottom line.  While serving as the controller for a regional transportation corporation, Matthew presided over a successful merger with another leader in the transportation industry. 

A Michigan native, Matthew enjoys hiking and skiing the mountains of Colorado and is active in the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.  Matthew received his Bachelors degree in Entrepreneurship and Accounting from Central Michigan University.
